A letter from Alan and Jean Kahn
We have had a family partnership for a number of years. In 1996, because of the Montana Tax Credit for Endowed Giving, we decided to use some of our partnership assets to establish a donor-advised fund at the Montana Community Foundation.

In addition to gifts to our fund at the MCF, we have made other gifts to qualifying endowments, so that our total direct gifts to endowments have been substantial-all since the introduction of the Tax Credit.
Not only have the direct gifts benefited Montana and our community, but the income from our fund at the MCF alone will generate significant gifts to meet current operating needs of Montana charities this year.
The Tax Credit has been a great motivator for us to use the assets of our family partnership for the benefit of current and future Montana generations, and we join with many others in encouraging the Legislature to continue the Credit indefinitely.
